Advance Core Stability

- Moving Core Stability to the Next Level -

 

 

The importance of core stabilizing muscles in the health and rehabilitation of the lower back and pelvis has been well documented.  After mastering the basics and key concepts of core stability, it is important to continually challenge the core stabilizing muscles in order to prevent injuries or re-injury while performing in work, life or play.

 

What you will learn:

  • Advanced core stability exercises that utilize free weights, body weight and balance

  • Advanced stability ball exercises that challenge the individual on a variety of levels

  • How to use resistance equipment  to provide options for traditional exercises

  • How to apply the exercises learned to specific case studies

Instructor: Rick Kaselj


Rick Kaselj specializes in active rehabilitation and fitness. He works in one-on-one and group rehabilitation settings, training people who have been injured at work, in car accidents and during sport activities. His clients and group exercise participants include a wide variety of individuals from healthy and special populations.

Rick has combined his work experience and passion for research to develop a variety of courses and presentations for fitness professionals, kinesiologists and healthcare providers. These workshops include:

  • Exercise rehabilitation for the shoulder, lower back or knee

  • Intro or advanced core stability

  • Postural assessment and exercise prescription

  • Intro or advanced stability ball exercises

  • Train for better golf

  • Shoulder stabilization

  • Resistance exercises for the injured shoulder

Rick balances his work life with fitness endeavours and travel. He has completed endurance activities, such as the Manitoba Marathon, the 225-km Ironman Canada Triathlon and the 160-km Sea2Summit Adventure Race in Whistler.

 

He recently hiked 4,300 kilometres along the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. As an avid traveller, Rick has toured three continents and 17 countries.

 

In 1997, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University. Rick currently works as a lecturer, Kinesiologist, personal trainer and exercise rehabilitation specialist in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
