A Local Idea – PowerPlane

I was contacted by two fitness professionals from Vancouver who asked me to test out one of their new products.

Alexander Suaste and Sandra Knezeviciute have been reading my Fitness & Rehab newsletter for the last few years and wanted my perspective on how their product would work with exercise rehabilitation clients.  They introduced me to the PowerPlane Total Fitness Platform, which I have been incorporating in my workouts.

About the PowerPlane Total Fitness Platform

The PowerPlane is comprised of three pieces: a main platform with two blocks.  The board can be converted into a stable exercise platform, rocker board or a wobble board.

PowerPlane and Exercise Rehabilitation

A solid platform is easily built by attaching the blocks width-wise to the main platform.  This adaptation of the PowerPlane is great for knee and hip rehabilitation exercises.  If you want to challenge lower body proprioception, move the blocks lengthwise - or put them away - and work the lower body kinetic chain in the sagittal or frontal plane.   If you want to challenge your body awareness or reactivity, place a medicine ball under the platform to create an advanced wobble board.

Summary

It has been exciting for me to see two local fitness professionals take their great idea and enjoyed such great success.  I have added the PowerPlane to my Exercise Rehabilitation course, use it with my clients and highly recommend it to other fitness professionals.
