Electromyographic Activity and Applied Load During Shoulder Rehabilitation Exercises Using Elastic Resistance

 

The purpose of this study was to observe the muscle activity of the muscles surrounding the shoulder (supraspinatus, subscapularis, infraspinatus, trapezius, pectoralis major, anterior deltoid, latissimus dorsi, serratus anterior) during seven shoulder rehabilitation exercises performed with elastic resistance.

In the shoulder there is a group of muscles that have similar importance when it comes to function, stability and strength. These muscles need to be activated and strengthened when the shoulder is recovering from injury and be addressed in an exercise program.

 

Sunday, March 19, 2006 - Exercise Rehabilitation of the Shoulder - New Westminster , B.C. - Common shoulder injuries (frozen shoulder, shoulder impingement, rotator cuff tear and shoulder instability) will be discussed, and rehabilitative principles and exercises for each will be presented and practiced.

This lecture and practical based course is designed to teach you the basics and beyond of High Performance Athlete training.  You will be given the groundwork for developing training programs for athletes that involves assessment, dynamic warm-ups and agility training, core training principles including assessing for mal-alignment, 3D Upper and Lower Core training including shoulder stabilization exercises, smart stretching guidelines as well as injury prevention tips and recovery strategies.  Participants will leave the course more confident in working with athletes of all levels, and with an understanding of the rationale for your training program based both on recent research and the instructors’ personal practical experience.
