FITNESS & REHAB CONFERENCE is designed for Fitness & Rehabilitation Professionals who want to increase their knowledge, skills and success working with Exercise Rehabilitation & Post-Rehab clients.

 

 

Strength Training for Running with Jon-Erik Kawamoto

 

 

Workshop Description:

 

The session will cover how to incorporate a resistance training program in a runner's running program.  You will learn to assess hip movement patterns and how to incorporate muscle re-training exercises into the program.  Several power and plyometric exercises will also be discussed.  Ensure you athlete is running with the right muscles and total efficiency.  A look into a runner's dynamic warm-up will also be covered.

 

 

Learning Objectives:

 

- What muscles should be strong in a runner

- Muscle imbalance testing and correction

- Functional exercises for running

- Core training for running

- Plyometric drills

- Running technique drills: warming up for running

 

About the Presenter:

 

Jon-Erik Kawamoto

 

Jon-Erik Kawamoto is a Kinesiologist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist in Burnaby, BC.  He does one-on-one and group training with athletes and the general population.  He also designs post rehabilitation programs for ICBC clients recovering from motor vehicle accidents.  Jon is also a Certified Exercise Physiologist and an alumni Varsity Track and Field and Cross Country runner from Simon Fraser University.  You can contact Jon and find more information at JKConditioning.com.
